Good female workers are hard to come by these days if any at all. Rain is one of the top female workers in the midwest and recently won Number 97 on the DVDR Board for top 100 women wrestlers. She has been all over the Midwest in Iowa, IWA Mid-South, MAW, ACW, SDW and CZW on the East Coast. Her work ethic and drive have made her a female worth watching for her in ring work and not T&A.

Interview with Rain conducted by Tony Farinella |
Tony: We are here with one of the top female workers in the Midwest Rain, thanks for doing this interview with us. Rain: Well, thank you. Tony: First question were you a wrestling fan growing up? Rain: Yes, I grew up with a wrestling family. They all loved wrestling. I even remember the WWF wrestling cartoon.
Tony: Who were some of your favorites growing up?
Rain: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Midnight Express, and the Undertaker, man I loved those guys.
Tony: Did you play any sports growing up?
Rain: Yes, I played volleyball, tennis, softball, and of couse powder puff.
Tony: Lets sidetrack a little bit from wrestling what was your childhood like growing up?
Rain: I grew up on a farm for the first 4 to 5 years of my life. After that I moved around a lot, many schools, many friends, many new places to live.
Rain: I'm a big family person always with family.
Rain: I have an extremely large family.
Tony: Did you ever think to yourself you would join the wrestling business or did you always think you would be just a fan?
Rain: No, I didn't even know there was indy promotions around, I had absolutely no clue what so ever.
Rain: Otherwise I probably would have tried to get in it sooner.
Tony: How did you discover indy wrestling?
Rain: Well, it all started with my cousin Stacy, she worked at Super America and met this guy named Tim. One day I found out he was a wrestler, he also asked us to come with him and manage him for AAW, so we both did .
Tony: Were you nervous about going out in front of a crowd?
Rain: More excited then nervous, the only thing I was worried about is I wouldn't know what to do in front of the crowd.
Tony: How did all of the wrestlers treat you?
Rain: They were all really nice to me. Some of them would do things to show off, but thats normal for guys. I thought it was funny.
Tony: What was your role on your first show?
Rain: I was a heel manager w/ Cherri and Shylo Starr, we just distracted the opponent. Didn't do much at all, but thats good, cause I didn't know anything.
Tony: Did you think this would be a one time deal or did you want to get into the business after this?
Rain: I had so much fun that I wanted to do it every weekend, I couldn't wait for the next show.
Tony: Were your parents supporitve of your decision?
Rain: My mother just laughed at me when I told her, I don't know why but she has nothing against it. She likes it better now that I wrestle and she is entertained by it.
Tony: How long were you valet for before you wanted to wrestle?
Rain: I was managing for a 1 1/2 years before I actually started wrestling, but I wanted to wrestle right away. I just needed to get better training.
Tony: Who were some of the wrestlers you managed?
Rain: Trailer Trash Tim, Angel Armoni, Hanibal, Jason Dukes, Horace The Psychopath, and Adrian Lynch.
Tony: Why did you want to wrestle and not valet?
Rain: Well, I wanted to do both, I thought it would be cool to wrestle. I always fought with my male cousins growing up. So I thought it would be like that, but a little different. My cousin Stacy was supposed to do it with me, but thats not her passion so I did it alone.
Tony: When did you start training and who trained you?
Rain: I started to train early 2001 and was trained by Horace The Psychopath. In the summmer of 2001, I went to Terry Fox's camp with Horace and the both of them trained me there.
Tony: What was the training like? And was it what you expected? Rain: I knew it wasn't going to be easy.
Rain: I just listened, didn't say much, and watched a lot of tapes with Horace. I just wanted to learn.
Tony: Besides Horace did any other wrestlers take you aside and give you advice?
Rain: Yes, Angel Armoni helped me too. Adrian lynch gave me his advice and Lacey helped me with things also.
Tony: Who were some of the students with you in training?
Rain: First the AAW camp Vemon, Mallice, Blue Balls, Rat, Switch, and Nate. MIW camp Patrick, Lacey, Autumn Hayes, Hoofer, and Robbie Thunder.
Tony: When did you make your debut and for what company was it for and who did you wrestle?
Rain: My debut was for AAW in Wasau, WI., it was Horace and I vs. Pheonix and Natural Man, that was October of 2001.
Tony: How did the match go and how did the crowd react to you?
Rain: I was a heel my first match and I got a lot of heat. I didn't do anything in the match either, it was a lot of fun. It made me feel really confident cause Horace was there, otherwise I think I would have been more nervous then excited.
Tony: Who were some of your early opponents in your career?
Rain: Phoenix, Ashley Xavier, Vixen, Lauden Payne, and of couse Lacey.
Tony: What were some of the places you worked early in your career?
Rain: I worked in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
Tony: What were some of your favorite early matches?
Rain: My mixed tag with Horace vs. Ian and Ashley Xaiver, singles match with Lacey for AAW, and the girls match with Autumn Hayze and me against Phoenix and Lacey.
Tony: Did you want to be a heel or a face?
Rain: I like being a heel. I like being mean to people. I like to get a mean reaction out of the crowd then a nice one. I love it when they hate me.
Tony: When was the first time you met Lacey and what was your intial impressions of her?
Rain: I met lacey at MIW camp, I thought that she didn't like me. I found out that she is just shy.
Tony: When was your first match with Lacey and did you guys click right away when you wrestled?
Rain: It was the girls tag with Autumn Hayes and Pheonix, I think we did even though we didn't work that much in that match. She was sick and could not really do much, but real first match would have to be the Nebraska one for OWA.
Tony: When did you make your debut for SDW and what was that like?
Rain: I was managing Adrian Lynch in the summer of 2001.
Tony: When did you make your debut wrestling for SDW?
Rain: December of 2001, I believe it was the 19th.
Tony: What is it like wrestling for SDW ?
Rain: I love working for SDW, the crowd rules.
Tony: What are some of your favorite memories of SDW?
Rain: The tag match with Horace and Lacey against me and Lynch, it was soo much fun. And of course my first match with Lacey.
Tony: What is it like working for ACW?
Rain: It was a lot of fun, I used to think it was a long trip, HAHA not anymore.
Tony: Any good memories of working for ACW?
Rain: I had a fun match with Lacey and I worked Shawna Doyle.
Tony: What is it like working for MAW?
Rain: I met a lot of nice people and had a couple good matches. I learned a few things from talking to people there.
Tony: What is it like working for IWA?
Rain: Different crowd, different place, far far away, met new people like yourself and others. I had a lot of fun, and had a really good match with Lacey, I can't wait to see it.
Tony: What do you think of the IWA and MAW Fans?
Rain: They are a little different, but it is fun to work in front of them.
Tony: How did CZW come about?
Rain: We kept sending in tapes, because we thought it would be cool to work there, and they called us back. I want to go back it was a lot of fun.
Tony: Were you nervous about the match since you had a broken foot?
Rain: Yes, I was afraid I'd mess up real bad, but I had to do it.
Tony: Were you nervous about the fans?
Rain: Yes, I thought that they would like boo us out of the building. I was suprised when they didn't, really suprised when they got into the match.
Tony: What did you think of the match?
Rain: I thought it was fun and I like having a manager, I like it when the crowd is really into the match.
Tony: How did everyone in CZW treat you?
Rain: Everyone was really nice and respectfull of us.
Tony: How long and hard was the road trip to Philly that weekend?
Rain: That was the longest road trip ever, it took 20 hours to get there and 2 hours to find a hotel. Did the show, went to eat, went back to the hotel room to sleep, the next morning woke up and drove home. I was 3 hours late for work,we were all dead and crabby. It was a lot of fun and the first time I was ever there, pretty damn interesting.
Tony: Describe Rain the person and Rain the wrestler
Rain: Rain the person is shy quiet most of the time.Very happy and excited about everything and almost anything, very easily amused. Rain the wrestler is a basic heel usually. Doesn't really like people, kinda cocky, mean to people, and isn't always happy, kind of a bitch.
Tony: Why should someone book Rain on their wrestling show?
Rain: I will work my hardest and put 110% into the match. I don't complain, I'm respectfull, I am nice, and I will listen. I have never no showed anyone.
Tony: What are your goals in wrestling?
Rain: Just to work as much as I can, meet new people, and to have a lot of fun doing it.
Tony: What has been the highlight of your wrestling career so far?
Rain: Working for SDW, CZW, IWA, AWA and being trained by Horace. Also meeting as many as people as I have so far.
Tony: What is the one thing you would most like to improve on?
Rain: Everything and anything, I will listen and do as I am told. I listen to everyone. You can learn from everyone even if it's only a little, I wish I could go to camp more to spend more time on things so I can improve more and more. There is no one thing, there is everything.
Tony: What is the worst crowd you ever worked in front of? Such as a crowd that just wanted to see T and A and did not care if you girls could wrestle.
Rain: I don't really recall any crowd just chanting t and a things at us, most of the crowds have been really into it. There has been a couple that are not into it as much as others, but no straight "show your tits chants".
Tony: What is the one thing that surprised you about the wrestling business?
Rain: How nice some people can be and how mean some people can be. I'm suprised how much wrestling is like high school, but I have met some very good friends in wrestling. I'm suprised on how much indy wrestling is around and how many people know about it and how I didn't for almost forever.
Tony: What are some places you would like to work that you haven't?
Rain: Epic Pro Wrestling, the East Coast, down south, and the West Coast, since I don't get out much down south.
Tony: What do you mark out for?
Rain: I mark out for gimmcks, an intense match, the chase, and fun bags.
Tony: What is the best thing about this business and the worst thing?
Rain: The best thing is the people you meet, like I said before and the experience you get in this buisness. The worst thing is all the miles you have to put on a car and when people get hurt. I really don't like that, it makes me very sad.
Tony: Lets back track from wrestling a little about and tell us about shopping what kind of clothes do you like to buy?
Rain: Oooh, thats a hard one to answer. I guess what ever catches my eye and usually is pretty expensive, so whatever is cute and costs a lot I guess. Shoes and lots of shoes, I have a closet full of shoes, I really love shoes. T
ony: Besides wrestling what are some of your favorite hobbies?
Rain: I like to work out and swim, I take care of my animals and i'd have to say shopping. I'm going to go shopping today.
Tony: I know it is said a lot but how hard is it being a woman in the business?
Rain: It's really hard for a woman to get respect in this buisness. Everyone automatically thinks that your in the buisness just for the guys. I guess it doesn't help when some girls are in to only to sleep with the guys, in my case that is far from the truth. Being a female wrestler you also get "well, girls can't work", but when people say that what is it saying for the girls trainer, you know what i'm saying? So when people say that I think they should think before opening their mouths, but I guess it also depends on the girls athletic abilities. But it is hard being a woman in the buisness.
Tony: How much time do you spend on wrestling each week?
Rain: Well, between going to camp, wrestling, on the road, and watching tapes, it depends. And talking about it in the phone I have no clue, its hard to say.
Tony: Favorite Movie and Music?
Rain: Favorite movie is of course Billy Madison, I love Adam Sandler. And for music, I like girl rock bands, they rule.
Tony: What is the best rib you have ever seen pulled?
Rain: Not letting someone know that someone was going to wear a dress while they wrestled.
Tony: What is your favorite match you and Lacey have had?
Rain: I'd have to say a tie between our last match in Iowa and our last IWA Mid-South match.
Tony: If you could wrestle anyone alive or dead who would you pick?
Rain: Madusa or Molly Holly.
Tony: Favorite Crowd to work in front of?
Rain: CZW, IWA Mid-South, or Iowa people.
Tony: Any advice for someone trying to break into wrestling?
Rain: Check out a few places to get trained before making your final decision. .
Tony: What has been the low point of your wrestling career?
Rain: Not being trained right away, kinda held me back.
Tony: Who do you admire the most in this business?
Rain: Horace the Psychopath, Eddie Sharkey, Angel Armoni, and anyone that works really hard.
Tony: Tell us about some of the moves you do?
Rain: I do the ocean cyclone suplex as my finisher and call it acid rain, I do hair snapmares, neck breakers, power bombs, and a power slam. I also punch and kick a lot.
Tony: What is your future in wrestling?
Rain: I dunno, to have fun, I'll do it as long as I'm having fun.
Tony: Allright Name Game I name a person you tell me your thoughts on them.
Rain: I'm scared.

Tony: Autumn Hayze
Rain: Never worked her, worked with her once and it was fun. She is a very nice girl, wish I could work her sometime.
Tony: Mike Mercury
Rain: Good promoter, has always taken care of me.
Tony: Phoenix
